Growth! These are the radishes planted on the side of the house. They’re our first seeds to sprout this year <I’m kinda worried about my garden peas :( >. You can even see their tiny red stems!
This evening I planted two more rows of carrots and a long row of turnips. That makes two 6-foot rows and one 4-foot row of carrots. Carrots should be thinned to one plant every 2 inches. This means we should harvest about 8 dozen carrots!
For turnips I couldn’t decide whether to grow a cultivar that produces more leaves (“turnip greens”) or to grow some that produce a larger root. So the guy at Travelers Rest Feed and Seed mixed some seed for both. When they come up there should be some plants that have a bunch of leaves and some plants that only have a few. The ones with few leaves will have larger roots come harvest time.
